Guidelines for the COVID-19 vaccination of children aged 15-18 years have been released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). They have shared the relevant information for the administration of precautionary doses to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and senior citizens (above 60 years) with comorbidities
The MoHFW guidelines for children will be effective from January 3, 2022, and will be reviewed from time to time. Information on the type of vaccine that can be used, as well as the methods of booking slots to get the vaccination, have been highlighted in brief.

What Are the Approved Vaccines for Teenagers, in the Age Group of 15-18?
Currently, the guidelines suggest that Covaxin would be the only approved vaccine option for this group of beneficiaries.
Are All Children Eligible for Corona Vaccines?
As per the MoHFW guidelines, children/teenagers who are 15 years and above (anyone born in 2007 or later) are eligible for the vaccine.
How Can Children Register for Vaccination?
Children or new beneficiaries need to register online with their ID card, using the Co-WIN App (https://www.cowin.gov.in)
To register:
- Eligible beneficiaries may use an existing account on Co-WIN or r
- Create a new account through a unique mobile number. Since this is only for eligible children/ teenagers, they are allowed to use a parent’s or guardian’s existing Co-WIN account, to book a vaccination slot from January 1, 2022, onwards.
What are the other options for
Booking Vaccination Slots for Children/ Teenagers?
Based on the guidelines, an onsite registration mode has been facilitated by the vaccinator, for walk-ins.
Documents That Need to Be Carried on the Day of the Vaccination?
After scheduling vaccination for children, Eligible children/ teenagers must carry their valid Aadhaar card or any other national identity card (PAN Card, Passport) on the day of their vaccination. They are also permitted to use their class 10th ID card for this purpose

As Per The Guidelines Submitted by MoHFW:
- Eligible beneficiaries, between the ages of 15 to 18 years, can start booking their slots on the CO-WIN app from January 1, 2022, by registering with their ID card.
- Self-registration by eligible beneficiaries can be done online, on the CO-WIN app, using an existing account or by generating a new account using his/her unique mobile number. Currently, this facility is available for all those who are eligible.
- They can optionally register onsite by the vaccinator/verifier in facilitated registration mode. New beneficiaries can book appointments online or on-site (walk-in).
- As per present guidelines, new beneficiaries would only be receiving Covaxin, until further notice.
